A fabulous vintage Louis Vuitton Reade MM in shimmering silver Monogram Vernis — such a cool example of Louis Vuitton from the late 1990s/early 2000s.
The Reade MM has a beautifully simple structured tote silhouette, with Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram embossed directly into the glossy Vernis leather. This one comes in a gorgeous metallic silver, contrasted by natural vachetta leather handles that have developed a warm honey patina with age.
One of my favourite details is that the bag still comes with its original Louis Vuitton paperwork, including the original material card identifying the exterior as “Varnish Calf” with a man-made interior lining. Such a lovely extra to find with a vintage Louis Vuitton.
The interior is spacious and finished in a coordinating pale silver tone, with an internal zipped pocket. The combination of metallic Vernis, embossed Monogram and warm natural leather feels so wonderfully representative of Louis Vuitton from this era.
In very good vintage condition. The silver Vernis remains beautifully glossy and the embossed Monogram is crisp and clearly defined. The interior is lovely and clean, while the vachetta handles have developed an even honey patina with light signs of previous use. Please refer to the photographs for the full condition.
