This is such a beautiful early vintage Chanel, and at close to 40 years old, its condition is quite remarkable. The original serial sticker begins with 0, placing it within Chanel’s earliest serial-number period, generally dated to circa 1986–1988.
Made in beautifully soft black quilted lambskin, it has the classic rectangular camera-bag shape with an oversized stitched CC to the front, a full zip closure and a long leather-woven chain strap. The large leather tassel is finished with an ornate Chanel fitting — one of those fabulous details that makes early vintage Chanel so special.
The bag is finished with the beautiful 24k gold-plated hardware associated with vintage Chanel, giving the chain and fittings that rich, unmistakable gold colour. The hardware remains wonderfully bright and beautifully preserved, particularly impressive considering the age of the bag.
The interior is fully leather lined, which makes this bag feel particularly luxurious. It is beautifully finished with an internal zipped compartment, Chanel branding and its original serial sticker, and remains wonderfully clean.
The overall condition is very, very good. The lambskin remains beautifully soft and supple, the quilting is still lovely and full, and the bag has retained its shape beautifully. There is a very small scratch/scuff to the front near the CC, as pictured, along with only very light signs of previous wear consistent with its age.
