Such a pretty vintage find from The British Heritage Collection, covered in delicate blue roses, trailing ribbons and wonderfully romantic little details.
The soft powder-blue ground is framed with clusters of painterly roses in blue, lavender and ivory, intertwined with tiny turquoise flowers, pink ribbon bows and golden scrolling flourishes. Across the centre, fine pink ribbons create an airy lattice of bows and tiny floral posies.
The most beautiful detail is tucked into one corner, where the printed fabric gives way to an elaborate white embroidered lace panel, filled with scrolling floral motifs and a scalloped edge. The fabric is printed “THE BRITISH HERITAGE COLLECTION” beside the lace.
Originally produced as a square handkerchief, it works beautifully today as a little neckerchief, tied in the hair or wrapped around the handle of a favourite handbag. The powder blue, pink and antique-gold palette has such a lovely romantic feel.
In lovely vintage condition with minor signs of previous storage and wear consistent with age.
