A fabulous piece of 1970s Gucci, bringing together two of the house’s most recognisable signatures: the green and red Web stripe and its equestrian-inspired horsebit hardware.
Made in Italy, the belt features a wide green and red woven Web band finished with beautifully shaped tan leather tabs and contrast stitching. At the front sits a gold-tone horsebit detail, while the back fastens with a classic gold-tone buckle. The leather is stamped “MADE IN ITALY BY Gucci”, an earlier Gucci marking seen on vintage pieces from this period.
The horsebit is particularly lovely here. Gucci’s equestrian references are such an important part of the house’s design language, and paired with the Web stripe it makes the belt unmistakably Gucci without relying on a large logo.
The belt remains in good vintage condition, with visible patina, surface wear and creasing to the leather and light wear to the hardware, all consistent with its age and shown in the photographs.
