A rare piece of Louis Vuitton history, this large monogram bucket bag was produced under special license by The French Company in the USA during the 1970s – a period when LV partnered with the New York–based manufacturer to meet growing demand across the American market. These pieces were never available in Europe at the time, and today they’re highly collectible for their distinctive details and limited production.
Made in the brand’s signature coated monogram canvas with warm vachetta leather trim, this piece features adjustable buckle shoulder straps and a structured oval base. The proportions are wonderfully generous – ideal for everyday wear or as a chic travel companion – and the tall cylindrical silhouette has a timeless appeal that still feels fresh decades later.
There is honest wear consistent with its age: the vachetta shows a rich patina and some surface markings, and the hardware has developed a soft vintage tone. Structurally, however, it remains strong and sturdy, with the monogram canvas beautifully preserved. Please note that some areas of the leather display light scuffs and wear, but this only adds to its vintage character and authenticity.
A fabulous find for collectors of early Louis Vuitton, this piece represents a unique chapter in the maison’s history and is priced accordingly as a rare French Company original.
