A fabulous and increasingly hard-to-find signed Attwood & Sawyer leopard brooch, finished in rich 22kt gold plating with black enamel spotting and crystal pavé detailing throughout the collar, body, and curled tail.
Attwood & Sawyer became particularly well known in the 1980s and ’90s for their glamorous animal jewellery, often drawing inspiration from the great feline jewellery houses and runway costume pieces of the era. Their big cat designs have become especially collectible in recent years, both because of their quality and because they perfectly capture that bold old-school luxury aesthetic that has come back into fashion in such a major way.
This piece has beautiful sculptural detail throughout, from the textured gold finish to the wonderfully exaggerated curled tail and mid-stride pose. The crystal detailing catches the light beautifully when worn, giving it that unmistakable vintage glamour that Attwood & Sawyer did so well.
These leopard and panther pieces are among the more sought-after Attwood & Sawyer designs and are becoming increasingly difficult to source — particularly in signed examples with good plating and intact crystal work. The combination of Swarovski crystals, substantial construction, and heavy 22kt gold plating is exactly why collectors continue to seek the brand out today.
A perfect statement pinned onto a blazer, trench coat, scarf, knitwear, or even styled on a handbag.
Signed A&S to the reverse.
