A considered set of two James Kent Pompadour serving plates, made in England in the mid-20th century. They’re not identical in size — which is exactly why they work. More styled than matched.
The decoration is classic Pompadour revival: generous gilt floral work, rose-filled cartouches, and a softly scalloped square form with integrated side handles. Decorative, yes, but grounded in quality English bone china and proper mid-century production.
They were made for serving, but they live very comfortably elsewhere too — as trinket trays for jewellery, styled on a dressing table, or used in a bathroom for guest hand towels.
Practical, elegant, and quietly indulgent — the sort of pieces that feel collected rather than bought.
Good vintage condition with light wear and gentle gilt rubbing consistent with age. No chips or cracks.
Measurements to be added.
